Nestle Milk Chocolate Bars - picture 8

Today it’s picture eight of Doctor Who Fights Masterplan “Q” - the 15-part adventure on the backs of the Nestlé Doctor Who Milk Chocolate bars.

With The Master running riot, The Doctor and Jo Grant are finally closing in on him.

Here is another caparison between the original sweet shop display box, and the revamped version after Jon Pertwee complained!

Doctor Who Experience - in 3D!!!

I have got an absolute TREAT for you today!

This week I had the opportunity to revisit the Doctor Who Experience in Olympia, and thought rather than just get some more endless photographs of the displays, I would do something EXTRA special.

I know a lot of my readers are in the US, so are unlikely to get the chance to see the exhibition at first-hand.

So what I’ve got for you is the near next-best thing - a walk through the displays - in 3D!!!! Well, one of those panoramic views you can interact with.

Below are the panoramas relating directly to the Third (and earlier) Doctor.
You can see all the panoramas
I took by clicking this link

Doctor Who Experience - in 3D

First up is the line-up of The Doctor’s costumes, giving you a real sense of how they are presented.

The Ten Doctors

Nestle Milk Chocolate Bars - picture 7

Today it’s picture seven of Doctor Who Fights Masterplan “Q” - the 15-part adventure on the backs of the Nestlé Doctor Who Milk Chocolate bars.

Unable to trace The Master, they are unaware of his imminent success in his evil Masterplan Q.

Now, at some point during the run of the chocolate bars, Jon Pertwee apparently complained about the likeness - or lack of likeness - in the illustrations accompanying the bars.

Compare this to the version that appears HERE.

As a result the display box was redesigned using a better image of The Doctor.

Pertwee-worn Inverness Cape sells for £4,800 at auction

Yesterdays Entertainment sale at Bonhams included an Inverness cape worn by Jon Pertwee (see right).

Although it was not from his era as The Doctor, it had been worn for the numerous personal appearances, photo-calls, as well as for his role in Dimensions In Time.

I wrote about this very cape in my Costume Index Appendix a couple of years back.

Having seen it first hand at the viewing, I was disappointed by its construction, thinking it a bit cheap and nasty.

That said it was worn by the man himself, and a buyer was sufficiently impressed enough to pay £4,800 for the privilege of owning it.

Bonhams auction - 29th June 2011 -the viewing

This week is the bonhams entertainment sale, so I popped along to the viewing to see the Who-related items for myself.

The solitary Pertwee item, an Inverness cape, was a bit disappointing for me. Although it had been worn throughout the final appearances of Jon in the role, it wasn't as well made as I thought it might have been.

The cape part actually buttoned on, making it removeable. The herringbone fabric it was made from felt cheap and the lining was a simple viscose with a self-stripe and not the luxurious looking brightly coloured silks of the screen used ones.

Nestle Milk Chocolate Bars - picture 6

Today it’s picture six of Doctor Who Fights Masterplan “Q” - the 15-part adventure on the backs of the Nestlé Doctor Who Milk Chocolate bars.

Pursued from the planet Quorus by The Doctor and Jo Grant, The Master eludes them and we start to see the beginnings of his evil Masterplan Q!

Here is the final side to the sweet shop display box.

Down to a tee

Forbidden Planet’s relentless release of The Doctor costume t-shirts continues with the upcoming Third Doctor (see below).

It represents Jon Pertwee’s costume as specifically seen in Frontier In Space, the only times the combination of green Smoking Jacket, brown Inverness Cape and velvet bow tie were seen on screen together – although the bow tie worn in the episode was not the wine colour shown here.
